Follow the good noise. This one is about the buzz: you hear each stop before you see it, the chatter and the music building as you come round the corner. Run it as a route, drifting from one lively spot to the next with the crew.
Meet up at the Marnixstraat dock and grab the first round at Waterkant, then drift up to Café Soundgarden for the music. From there cut into the Jordaan for a drink at Café 't Smalle on the Egelantiersgracht. Wind back down the Prinsengracht and along the Leidsegracht, pick up the Herengracht, and finish the canal round to the Singel, with a urinal there for the practical stop before the last leg. The rest is up to you: head home, or carry on through the centrum or the Amstel.
A few honest notes. These are busy, social spots, so they get loud and they fill up. That is the whole point, but plan for a wait. If you slip out of the Singel by the Muntsluis, it is a working lock that reads like a long dark tunnel from the boat, so take it slow and mind the traffic. And the docks are first come, first served, with the signs the final word, so read them before you tie up.
