Plan a day on the water with other people
A trip is the whole day in one link: where you leave from, when, who is coming, and where each person wants collecting.
No more three group chats and somebody waiting on the wrong bridge.

How it works
1Plan the route
Set your stops on the water the way you already do.
2Send one link
Or read out a code. Everyone answers on their own phone.
3Find each other
Whoever shares their position shows up on one map.
A pick-up point is a real place on the map. Passengers pick a stop, or one of the city's marked spots for getting on and off a boat (an op-/afstapplaats), so you can actually steer to them.

Questions
What is a trip on Floating Today?
A trip is a day on the water, written down once and shared with the people coming. It holds the route and its stops, when you are leaving and from where, who has said they are in, and where each person wants collecting. On the day it can show your friends a live map of where everyone is.
Do the people I invite need an account?
Yes, and it is free and passwordless. Anyone opening your link sees the name of the day and the date straight away. The stops, the meeting point and who is aboard appear once they sign in, either with a one-time code emailed to them or with Google. That is what keeps a plan private to the people you invited rather than to whoever the link reaches.
Who can see the plan?
Only people who have joined the trip. The link on its own shows the name and the date and nothing else. A trip is never public, never indexed by search engines, and never shown to anyone who is not on it.
Can people see where I am?
Only if you turn sharing on, and only the friends on that one trip, and only while it is running. It is off until you switch it on, you can switch it off again at any moment, and no position is ever stored in our database.
Does it cost anything?
No. Trips are free, there is no paywall, and there is no limit on how many people you invite.
Does it work outside Amsterdam?
Yes. Amsterdam and Utrecht both have curated spots and water routing, and a trip can run between cities because it is tied to your account rather than to one city.
Trips is still being built
Some of it may not work the way you expect yet. If something looks wrong, take a screenshot and send it to hello@floating.today. That is the fastest way to get it fixed.
