A gentle loop for when the parents are in town: easy dockings, pretty canals, and nowhere you have to rush. Run it as a route, slow and calm, and let them take it all in.
Start at the Postjesweg dock where you keep the boat, and work north up to the Hugo de Grootkade. Tie up at Haarlemmerplein for ice and snacks from the supermarket by the square, then carry on to Prinseneiland, one of the prettiest and quietest corners in the city, with the old Western Islands all around you. Drop back into the Jordaan for a stop on the Bloemgracht, then head home along the Hugo de Grootgracht. If the sun is still out and it is open, finish with one last drink at BRONS, back on the Postjesweg.
A few honest notes. This one is about taking it slow, so leave plenty of time and let the bridges and the traffic set the pace. The docks are first come, first served, and the signs are the final word on where and how long you can tie up, so read them before you settle in. And keep the noise down on the quiet canals out west, where people live right on the water.
