Key findings

What we found

  1. 1Floating Today maps 211 bridges in Utrecht31 of them open for boats.
  2. 2None publishes an official clearanceRijkswaterstaat publishes no clearance heights for these bridges, so each one shows as unknown. Read the board at the bridge.

No clearances

No bridge here publishes a height. We show them as unknown, never as a guess.

Rijkswaterstaat publishes no clearance heights for Utrecht's bridges to its national feed, so every bridge here shows as unknown. We map where they are and which ones open, and leave the height to the board at the bridge.

Water level

The figure on the board moves with the water.

A published clearance assumes the water is at its normal level. When the water is higher, every bridge clears less than its figure; when it is lower, more. Real clearance = published clearance − (today's level − the normal level). Always read the height board at the bridge before you commit.

Data and methodology

How we built it from official data to this page.

  1. 1

    Source

    Bridge positions from OpenStreetMap.

  2. 2

    Match

We pair each official record with its bridge and remove duplicates.

  3. 3

    Calculate

Every count, ranking and distribution on this page, recomputed with each release.

  4. 4

    Show honestly

A bridge without a figure stays unknown. The board at the bridge always wins.

About the data
Positions and names come from OpenStreetMap. Rijkswaterstaat publishes no clearances for these bridges.
What we add
We match the two sources, remove duplicates, and calculate every count, ranking and distribution on this page. Only official clearances are ranked or charted; a bridge without one is unknown, never estimated.
