About the event
Marée Circle curates small, themed gatherings for Amsterdam's boating community. The Island Escape is their overnight one: out of the city by water, a night on the island, and back. It runs for members of their circle, which is free to join, and they keep the full picture, dates and what is included on their own page.
The organiser
A curated Amsterdam boating community, est. 2025, running a handful of themed gatherings a year, wine tastings, an island escape, a drift-in cinema night, open to anyone who wants in on the water-as-social-space idea.
From the water
A shared cruise leaves Amsterdam and heads out to an island roughly 30 km away, with a stop to swim on the way. You can bring your own boat and make the trip part of the weekend, or skip the crossing and join at the island later in the day.
Our take as floating people
If you are already part of Marée Circle, this one is for you. We are passing it on rather than reviewing it: it is a nice idea, getting out of the canals for a night and going somewhere you can only really arrive at by boat, and it is a different thing to a festival you watch from the water. Marée Circle runs it, not us, so their page is the place to judge whether it is your kind of weekend.
