Bogortuin swim spot (Java-eiland)

A big grass field on Java-eiland by the Verbindingsdam where people step off the quay into the open harbour water and swim looking across at Zeeburg. This is not official zwemwater (designated swimming water): the quality is not monitored and the city does not formally allow it, so you go in at your own risk. It is busy open water on the IJ side with passing boats, sloops and wakes, so enter from the edge, stay well clear of the channel, and be considerate of the houseboat residents right there. You can tie up at the Bogortuin mooring about 150 m along the quay.
